Well, we put it off as long as we could, but we had to send the Princess off to middle school today! In staying true to her nature she went excitedly. The first day outfit was not her first choice, but it is one that she must get used to quickly because it is her only option! She showed no nerves until we pulled into the parking lot and then she decided she might be nervous. Thankfully at that point she had no choice but to jump out of the car and jump into the day. She came home still fairly excited. She thought it was a little boring because they had to stay in homeroom a long time and listen to "rules."
About two weeks before school started we got word that her best friend since Kindergarten was going to head to another school. This was a bump in the road, but she came home today and said her other really good friend was in EVERY class today! They work on an A/B day schedule so tomorrow that won't be true, but at least every other day she gets a whole day with her buddy!
When the princess entered Kindergarten we let her choose a back pack from LL Bean. But, we made the stipulation that this backpack was going to last all through elementary school. She would be able to pick out a new one when she hit middle school. Her faithful pink backpack did not disappoint and lasted well through all six years. In fact if it wasn't pink I probably would have sent it off with her brother tomorrow! As you can see her favorite colors have changed.
