It's nasty here today. Started raining last night and hasn't stopped, but that doesn't stop the die hard soccer players. We trooped out with our boots, umbrellas, and towels and had a FABULOUS time!!
Not that that title doesn't already give it away, but anybody want to guess what the princess did today?
Sorry, nope, she didn't sit down on the field. And, no, she didn't request to be taken out of the game. She scored her first AND second goals today!!
Her first goal was a one on one where she juked the poor little guy who barely reached her chin and sent it far side past the goalie. I tried to be the cool, calm, collected coach, but that didn't work. I was way to proud to be calm. The princess, on the other hand, scored her goal and then calmly walked back to the mid-field. Dad didn't quite get photos of the the actual goal because he was doing something way more important like being stunned that a goal was scored, but here she is just after the score.
Nothing. No smile. No fist pump. She was all business.
The second goal was a picture perfect corner kick. The princess stationed herself right beside the goalie and the ball was placed perfectly right across the front of the goal. She used her instep and sent the ball near post. Beautiful. Again no emotion. Just headed back to the circle. Ten seconds later the ref called the game and this is where she went....
I really think she didn't know how she was supposed to feel. She actually got more excited as the day went on about her two goals, but at first I think she was a little overwhelmed by all the people yelling and cheering at HER!!
This was actually her first attempt and the goalie snagged this one, but I'll be danged if she didn't keep trying to kick it!

For the first time in 4 seasons we aren't counting the number of games left because we can't wait to be done, but we are counting the number of games left because we don't want it to end!!
